Default gold items

i found item which is gold..the name is 'Giants Slayer Warhammer' but it hasnt ANY additional 'effects'(you know eg. +10% dmg or smth like that).... so what the hell is with this weapon.... the only thing comes to my mind is salvage with xpert salv kit...

any suggestions?

Yeah, I'm beginning to wonder about this myself. I found a Purple Long Sword that said it was unidentified, so I used an ID kit on it. Well, imagine my surprise when I discovered I had a Long Sword 7-9 damage with absolutely no other effects other than having it's name in Purple. I saved it until I got to Yak's Bend and used an expert salvage kit on it and got one common crafting material out of it... What the heck is up with that?

It is called luck, just because you get a "rare" item doesn't mean you will get a special, item it gives you the chance of getting a rare item. just like how you have a chance of extracting a rune from a salvagable item with the expert salvage kit

So in other words, "rare" items are hard to come by, but even though they are clearly marked as being special in some way, they might not be? Don't get me wrong, I don't care all that much about the purple, gold, etc... items, I just wondered why something that's supposed to be different, isn't.

I actually got a purple drop the other day that was just salvage. I guess the mob I got it from was using something nice /shrug.

depending on the color its value is higher, meaning if you sold the same weapon, but with white as the name, the merchant wont give you as much for it

theres a higher chance you will Expert salvage good stuff from it - for example, I got an orange Armor from some enemy, expert salvaged it, and bam, 3 Leather squares.
